Overview

The Ganesh Himal Wilderness Trek is one of the best walking adventures in the Nepal Himalayas. This trek takes you to the laps of two Himalayan peaks in the Ganesh Himal range passing through isolated settlements, high Himalayan pastures, glaciers and glacial lakes very close to the Chinese border. Despite its proximity to Kathmandu -- the capital city, the region is pure, pristine and wild offering you one of the best adventure holidays in the Nepal Himalayas. The trek offers magnficient views of mountain peaks of Ganesh and Langtang ranges as well as those in Tibet, including the magnificent Shishpangma, from places like Pansang Pass, Luri Pass, Kharpu ridge and Rinamo ridge, among others. Day trips to Paldor High Camp and Kalo Kunda glacial lakes help you pump the adrenaline rush that you need. The trek begins with a drive to Syafrubesi, a mountain town near Nepal's border with Tibet. From here, the trek heads westward passing through villages of Goljung and Gatlang and crossing a ridge to descend to the small marketplace of Somdang seated on the banks of Mailung River. It then contours a mountain to reach Pansang Pass. From here, the trail heads northward to zinc mine and then to Paldor Base Camp. From Paldor Base Camp, the trail crosses Luri Pass and pass by a beautiful lake to climb Kharpu ridge and contour Rinamo ridge before dropping to the pastures of Tongjung Kharka. A day trip to Kalo Kunda lake offers jawdropping view of Ganesh III and the glacier dropping off its face. An easy walk from here takes you to a river confluence near Nepal-China border. Continuing downward through a narrow river valley, you will reach a bustling village of Tatopani high above Chilime River. An easy walk from here on a busy village trail takes you to Syafrubesi where your trek ends.
