GHT - Manaslu & Ganesh Himal

The Manaslu & Ganesh Himal section section of the Great Himalaya Trail includes two trails – one drawing heavy tourist traffic and the other relatively unexplored. While the Ganesh Himal section is relatively unexplored, the Manaslu Circuit is growing popular and drawing huge tourist footfalls. This section offers visitors with the opportunity to enjoy the view of high mountains, including Manaslu (8163m) – the eighth highest mountain in the world, experience the amazing Tamang and Gurung hospitality, spiritual immersion in ancient monasteries. A half-day drive from Kathmandu will take you to the beginning point of the section at Syafrubensi. From here, the trail climbs to the beautiful Tamang village of Gatlang and descend to Somdang after crossing a small pass named Kharpundanda. It then climbs to a high pass named Pansang Pass which offers great view of mountains in the Ganesh Himal range and drops to the beautiful Tamang village of Tipling. It crosses the a river and enters Lapubesi and climbs to a small pass before dropping to the shores of Budhi Gandaki river where it meets the busy Manaslu Circuit trail. The section reaches its zenith at Larke La Pass which offers breathtaking view of Mt Manaslu and other peaks in the Annapurna range before making a descent to Bhimthang and Dharapani where it exits GHT after meeting the Annapurna Circuit trail. Jeeps to Besishahar are available at Dharapani.
