GHT - Annapurna & Mustang

The Annapurna & Mustang section of Great Himalaya Trail is possibly Nepal’s busiest trekking trail. The trail connects two beautiful river valleys of Nepal – Kali Gandaki and Marshyangdi – and is the flag bearer of trekking tourism in Nepal. It offers everything that a trekker looks for – amazing mountain views, culture, tradition and lifestyle of the local people, high pass, alpine meadows, and friendly and hospitable people. This section falls entirely on the popular Round Annapurna Trek. It goes through the upper reaches of Marshyangdi Valley, before entering into the Kali Gandaki Valley after crossing the famed Thorang La Pass (5,416m). The trek offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Nilgiri as well as other mountain peaks. Similarly, it offers trekkers the opportunity to take a peek into the culture, tradition and lifestyle of Gurungs in the initial leg of the trek, and Thakali as well as Magars later on. The main attraction of the trail is Thorang La Pass which separates Nepal’s two districts Manang and Mustang as well as two river valleys.
