Mr Karki was born and brought up in Mugu district, home to the majestic Rara – the largest lake of Nepal. He has traveled length and breadth of the West Himalaya during his professional career and knows the area like the palm of his hand. Mr Karki ventured into tourism business after realizing that tourism is the only sector which can bring about socio-economic changes in the region which lags behind other parts of the country in terms of development indices. He is aware of the tourism riches of the area and has plans to exploit the potential to the fullest.
Mr Bhat, who hails from Kailali district of far-western Nepal, is a journalist turned filmmaker. He is the director of award winning documentary Sunakali which documents the journey of a team of underprivileged girls of Mugu district who win the regional football championship despite all odds. Before becoming a full time filmmaker, Mr Bhat worked for different media covering conflict at the height of Maoist insurgency. During his journalism career, he traveled to almost all the districts of the Western Himalaya reaching to all major settlements. He is aware of the tourism potentials that the region holds and how it can be used to uplift the socio-economic condition of the local people.
