Overview

Annapurna Base Camp, is the most popular trekking trail in Nepal. Thousands of foreigners trek to the area every year, thanks to easy accessibility, lower altitude and good facilities along the trail. Breathtaking mountain views, amazing sceneries and the hospitable local people are the main attractions of this trail. The main attraction of the trail is the Annapurna Sanctuary which offers 360-degree mountain views. The villages of Chhomrong, Bamboo and Himalaya Hotel are always welcoming. The trail is brimming with trekkers during two main seasons of Nepal. However, there are some people who do the trek in winter season as well.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)

Welcome to Nepal. Our representative will pick up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Spend the remainder of the day in your hotel to get rid of jet lag. In the evening, you can take a stroll in the streets of Thamel. Before dinner, meet your guide and attend a short trek briefing.

Day 2
Fly to Pokhara (827m), drive to Nayapul; and trek to Ghandruk (1940m) -- Approx 5 hrs

We hit the trekking trail on Day 2 itself. Catch an early morning flight to Pokhara. The short pleasing flight of about half an hour offers you great view of mountain peaks on your north. Upon your arrival in Pokhara, board a waiting car and drive to Nayapul -- the starting point of your trek. The drive takes about two hours. Meet your trekking crew, arrange you loads and start hiking right away. After a short walk from Nayapul, we reach a small market of Birethanti which is seated on the confluence of two rivers. After showing our permits, we take the right trail and start walking toward Ghandruk. The walk takes around 5 hours. Ghandruk is a beautiful village on the Annapurna Base Camp trail known for the friendly Gurung people and the magnificent mountain views.

Day 3
Trek to Chhomrong (2170m) -- Approx 5-6 hours

We begin our walk after breakfast. A climb for around an hour from here will take us to Kirmung Danda. On the way, we can enjoy morning views of mountain peaks like Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail and Gangapurna. The trail is downhill from here until Kimrong Khola. A steep climb from Kimrung Khola will take us to Chere Danda. We make a short descent, and the trail is more or less easyl until Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a beautiful village lying on the lap of the beautiful Annapurna massif.

Day 4
Trek to Bamboo (3230m) -- Approx 4-5 hrs

From Chhomrong, we descent to Chomrong Khola via the famed 2500-stone steps. Crossing the river on a suspension bridge, we start climbing again to the village of Sinuwa. After Sinuwa, the trail passes through the beautiful Kuldihar forest. From here, it is an easy downhill walk to Bamboo.

Day 5
Trek to Deurali (3230m) -- Approx 4 hrs

It will be a short day. But we won’t haste as we are approaching higher altitude. The trail today passes through a bamboo forest. It, however, needs steep climb in some sections. The forest opens up only after we reach Himalaya Hotel. From here, we can get fascinating views of glacier-fed river below. From here, we make a steep climb through a drier forest to reach Hinku cave. Continuing our walk, the trail drops to the riverbed before climbing again to Deurali. This is possibly the most scenic section of the trail. Vegetation is sparse, but view of the valley is breathtaking. Rising above the river are rock-face cliffs cut in many places by waterfalls.

Day 6
Trek to Annapurna BC (4,130m) via Machhapuchhre BC (3700m) -- Approx 5-6 hrs

We will be reaching to our destination today. As usual, we start our walk after breakfast. The trail climbs through the riverbed and takes a steep route over to the mountains. The hike from Bagar, which translates into riverbed, to Machhapuchhre BC is tiring. But views we get from the basecamp is rewarding and worth it. We can enjoy beautiful views of Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gangapurna and Gandharvachuli, among others. We continue our walk to Annapurna Base Camp. The path widens a bit and vegetation disappears. Annapurna Base Camp offers vertical view of the south face of Annapurna, towering right above us. The base camp is a beautiful sanctuary, offering us 360-degree mountain views. We can mountains like Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre and Himchuli, among other peaks, all arounds. We will spend a night at the base camp.

Day 7
Trek to Bamboo -- Approx 7-8 hrs

We start our return trip today. The trail from the base camp is mostly downhill, hence it shouldn’t be difficult for you. As you won’t be tired, take multiple breaks to admire the beautiful landscape. It will be a bit longer day today. We will spend the night at a lodge in Bamboo.

Day 8
Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1760m) -- Approx 6 hrs

From Bamboo, the walk is uphill until the Kuldighar forest. Then it is mostly downhill to Chhomrong Khola. After crossing the river on a suspension bridge, the trail is uphill until Chhomrong. From Chhomrong, it descends to Jhinu Danda our destination for the day. After checking into our lodge, we can relax in the natural hot springs.

Day 9
Trek to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara

This is going to be the last day of our trek. We resume our walk after breakfast. Settlements look bigger now as we are into the mid-hills. Walk to Nayapul takes about six hours or so. Upon arrival in Nayapul, board a waiting car and start driving toward Pokhara. In Pokhara, check into your hotel. Rest of the time is free for independent activities. In the evening, enjoy the ambience of the Lakeside.

Day 10
Fly to Kathmandu

We fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon. This means you have the whole morning free for you. Take rest in the hotel, or get out in the streets to buy souvenirs for friends and families back home. Upon our arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening, a farewell dinner will be organized for you in a typical Nepali restaurant. Savor typical Nepali cuisines and enjoy cultural performance of artistes.

Day 11
Departure

Your last day in Nepal! You are returning home carrying sweet memories of the trek. Our representative will escort you to the airport three hours before your flight time as required by the airport rules. On board the aircraft, you will have plenty of time to reflect on your trek and plan your next outing.
